I have, and the twelve hours that my little chihuahua, Sweetie, was missing were absolutely horrible. I had no idea if I would ever see her again. She was a feisty little girl and rather annoyed that she’d had to spend most of the day outside while we had some work done on our house. At some point, she managed to get out of our yard and we didn’t realize it until the workmen left and we opened the door to let the dogs in. It was getting dark and we searched with flashlights until almost midnight. Thankfully, our phone number was on her tag. A man about half a mile from our house found her at 6:00 am and called us. My husband went and picked her up immediately and our story had a happy ending.

Sweetie, back where she belongs.

Sadly, not everyone who loses a pet does. Their pets can be missing for days, or even weeks. I just can’t imagine! I ran across the following article and it has some excellent information on what to do and what NOT to do if your furry little friend goes missing. Of course, the first steps that can help ensure your lost pet makes it back home safe and sound are to have your phone number engraved on a pet tag on his or her collar, and to have your pet microchipped. There are quite a few additional words of wisdom here that can help, and I encourage you to read it and save it for future reference.
